What else?

Thrash or die.

Enjoy!

  •  Ciao Medo!Presentatevi al pubblico italiano!Quando avete iniziato a suonare insieme?Trovo il nome Angelseed piuttosto evocativo....come vi è venuto?

MEDO: Ciao a tutti! All'inizio eravamo solo in 3: Damir, Jure e io.Eravamo tutti membri della band thrash metal Drinking Skull.

MEDO: E' veramente difficile descriverlo.

1-Bloodfield

2-Dancing with ghosts
3-Man with black roses
4-Forever blind
5-Leaving all behind
6-Fallen Angel
7-Schizohead
8-Dreamer Breaking Dawn
9-Soul collector
10-The healer
11-Now

MEDO: Mi metti in difficoltà!
Vediamo:
Bloodfield... frenetico...
Dancing with the ghosts... equilibrato
Man with the black roses... deluso
Forever blind...senza scopo
Leaving all behind...impotente
Fallen angel... vendicativo
Schizohead... atterrito
Dreamer breaking down... senza speranza
Soulcollector... resistente
The Healer... ipnotico
Now... lascivo

  • Ho trovato il video Dancing with the ghosts assolutamente fantastico! Pazzesco ragazzi, congratulazioni!Produzione TOP,effetti speciali stupefacenti....semplicemente cool!Raccontatemi qualcosa!

MEDO: Grazie!

  • Voi e i social network.

Concerti in tutta Europa suppongo… giusto?

Thrash or die.

The musical power of ANGELSEED is all in this sentence.

This  Croatian band has an  international sound and a strong charisma.

Their album Crimson Dyed Abyss, recently released worldwide via MusicarchyMedia, kills it!

The right sound. The right attitude too, because of a remarkable   stage presence.

A band to remember.A band to follow.A band we are going to love!

I had a chat with Medo,the bass player:enjoy!

  • Hi guys! Please introduce yourself to the italian audience! When did you start playing together?Angelseed is a kinda evocative name...how did you come up with it?
MEDO: Hello there!  We are glad to introduce ourselves to the Italian audience and thank you for the chance…    We started a long ago, I think it was about 2000… At first there was only three of us. Damir, Jure and myself. All of us were members of thrash metal band Drinking Skull. Jure and I were drummers in that band. We had an idea to make a project with female vocalist and after a lot of candidates we choose Ivana to be our lead vocalist in this project. It was 2006. In the meantime we searched for other people to complete a line up to our project. After many attempts we found a keyboard player and another guitarist Juraj Birin… Until this moment I played a guitar and decided to change it for a bass because our ex bass player had some family obligations… In this line up we persist from 2007.
    About the name…
Damir has one quite analytic mind… He always searches for a things to make them better, and it was the case with the name also…   Of course, all of us had ideas how to name the band (not a project from that moment) but his arguments were unbeatable… J He, as he is, searched for a name that doesn’t exist in the Encyclopedia Metallum records, a name that must be easy to remember, and start with the first or last letter of the alphabet… We all regarded his efforts and, consequentially, accept the name Angelseed…

  • What kind of music are you playing? I think the result is a mixture of awesome harmonious effects...
MEDO: Well, that really is difficult to say… We play what we like… There are six of us and every one of us have different taste in music. Of course most of this tastes are metal music, but …
People usually put us in the gothic/symphonic/power genre, because of female vocal, but the truth is there is so much of genres to hear in just one song, so you actually cannot point to our music and say “they play this or that”.
I would like to quote my younger colleagues from band Mephisto’s Requiem… They have a theory that this kind of metal should be call… DIAGNOSTIC METAL… And it’s true… Just try to listen to the whole album and determine which genre this really is… We like to say that we simply play Metal music…

  • Your album Crimson Dyed Abyss is out worldwide. Tell me something about it. How could you describe it? Is there a fil rouge that links all the tracks?
MEDO: It’s really hard to describe it… It’s a kind of life/death stories, overlapping in particular ways, but not in a classic “metal” way… These are connected stories of instincts, thoughts, feelings, reactions… Whole album point to a human behaviors and it’s quite brutal regarding that. Of course, some tracks are mellow but at the same time very basic and raw regarding the message of the song…

  • Let's play a game.  You have to describe every song of the album with ONE adjective.  Just one, tough game, I know...

1-Bloodfield
2-Dancing with ghosts
3-Man with black roses
4-Forever blind
5-Leaving all behind
6-Fallen Angel
7-Schizohead
8-Dreamer Breaking Dawn
9-Soul collector
10-The healer
11-Now

MEDO: You put me in very tough position
How to describe such complexity with one word... I can describe this album only in my words... Other members have their visions of it quite different for sure
Let’s see:
Bloodfield... hectic...
Dancing with the ghosts... balanced
Man with the black roses... disappointed
Forever blind... pointless
Leaving all behind... helplessly
Fallen angel... vindictive
Schizohead... terrified
Dreamer breaking down... hopeless
Soulcollector... adamantine
The Healer... hypnotic
Now... lustful

  • How do you usually create your songs? It’s a team’s work, or there is just one author?
MEDO: Of course it’s a team work… But there are stages of creating songs within Angelseed. I’ll try to describe it generally, on the hypothetic song… We use that kind of creativity to all our materials. Someone made an idea, skeleton of the future song… Then we record it in that way, let’s say it – raw… After some rehearsals and arrangement corrections we record it again and correct mistakes or simply change some parts with new riffs or text lines. This process is long. If you wish to have nice sound, great arrangement and everything in the right place regarding tones and time/tempo you should do it this way. But this is our way, many wouldn’t agree with that kind of work. When we are satisfied with final product we start record final versions of the new song in association with producer… Even in that moment there is need to correct some things that we didn’t hear.

  • Which are your musical influences? What kind of music do you usually listen to?
MEDO: It varies from classical, blues to grind core and black metal (what I know about influences to other members of Angelseed), but most strong influence for me is classical music, particularly Beethoven, Dvorak, Bach, Grieg… They had made all of music in the world
Of course, there are Metal classics like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath… There is so many… I usually listen to what I hear on the radio, or, when I’m visiting friends… They play a lot of music from You Tube so I found myself a bit lost in all those bands… I can say that I like a lot bands like Wintersun, Six String Slaughter, Wardruna, Albanach, Septic Flesh… There are a lot…

  • I find the video “Dancing with the ghosts” absolutely awesome! Real wicked, guys, congrats! Big production, amazing visual effects…simply kick ass! Tell me something about it!
MEDO: Thank you. In the first place we wanted to avoid regular “band play” video. Our material is so complex and lyrics have a message to tell, so you can’t shoot “band play” video. So, consequently, we decided to shoot real, true video, with handmade sets, with real, accurate scenography and with ultimate best technology … There is some sequences made with CGI, but we couldn’t go to Japan to shoot 30 second footage (I would have liked that though
The whole band was involved in the process of making sets… We made it by ourselves, with our hands and ideas how to create a particular scene. We had help, of course, from our dear friend Branimira Novsak who has been studying Japanese for years, Marijana Bosnjak who spent about nine hours to make Ivana’s make up, Martina Bradach who created the idea for my “Earth” set… And I also must mention Vladimir Miketa (Game of Thrones) who was assistant of director Igor Goic.
Shooting was endless … For example, only Ivana’s set was shot for over 14 hours in a row! She was almost all the time sitting in one position. On top of that she spent that nine hours for make up with Mariana… Respectable… I bet she feel alike DaVinci’s model of Mona Lisa…
But it was worth of every second…

  • What about you and social networks. What kind of relationship you have with these new media?
MEDO: Today, social network is a necessity. Depending of your interests and needs everyone use them. It’s an easier way to get acknowledgement of any kind, easier way to connect with the people who do the same thing you do, no matter if it is music, cooking, carpentry or something else… There’s no rules but one… Be kind to others, answer the damn E-mail, you will spend only few minutes for it. Generally, people today are a bit lazy regarding that everything is available and suffer of lack of interest, No need to travel, no need to meet with friends, no need to get your food in the market or store… But good thing about that is that you virtually meet a lot of good people all around the world, many of them are great. This is a great way to connect with venues, bands, studios. Maybe I’m a bit “old school” but I prefer to talk with people face to face. We are social beings, not machines.

  • I’m curious about you featuring the novel “Gordana” by M.J Zagorka. Can you explain exactly what did you do?
MEDO: We stood still and a guy shoot our photos…
Just kidding… This was a great cooperation with one of Croatian best photographers, Igor Kelcec. At that moment he needed models for 12 covers of historical novel “Gordana”. He contacted us because he liked our music. Because he is a fantasy freak and we were exactly what he wanted, this cooperation was fruitful for both of us. We were models for the books, and he made a cd cover for us… And many great other things. He is a really good guy with the sense for humor and he is completely dedicated to his excellent work…

  • Tell me about your plans for the future…Gigs all over Europe I presume… Am I right?

Yes, gigs, video shootings, making songs for the next album … To rule the world… Nothing big, only average goals…
